Fattoria Di Cicinao Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2014 Review

It is not often that every bottle, from Classico to Classico Riserva to Gran Selezione, from one estate is solid, on point, and all Sangiovese! Cinciano (Cheen-Cha-No) is one of them. These bottles are not easy to find, but are well priced, and just bursting with what we fall in love with when we sip wine made from this grape. Aged longer than Riserva (30 months as opposed to 24) and estate grown, produced and bottled, this well structured, mature example of Sangiovese has earthy cherry bark (when cherry and soil aromas collide) floral vibes and a whiff of white pepper. The tannin is still young and grippy but will ease with time (not too much time though) making this tangy wine great now or a year or so down the road.
