Elvio Cogno Barolo 'Vigna Elena' Barolo DOCG 2013 Review

If you are buying Barolo, you know you're going to spend. This wine is $85 and worth every single penny. The aromas that I type cannot truly convey the feeling that will run through you when you stick your nose in that glass, but here we go. The nose is soulful, with bright cherry mingling with fresh clay and strap leather (like a leather store at the mall). You will swoon at the subtle rose petal aromas mingling with peppery anise. It’s been in bottle for a while and drinking well now but the tannins are still ornery enough that it could go for another ten-plus years. This is a wine to decant. But don’t let it sit! Sip it from the get and watch it evolve.
