Elvio Cogno Barolo 'Bricco Pernice' Barolo DOCG 2014 Review

This wine will sing to you like the partridge on the label. Made from a unique strain of Nebbiolo called Lampia, it is one of the most approachable wines from Barolo I’ve had in a long time. It’s seen some time in bottle and the tannins are still working on folding into the structure, but, damn. The palate is so soft you just wanna chew on it, with notes of bright cherry and some strap leather (like walking into a leather store in the mall). There is a slight pepper aroma that is a nice contrast from the fruit. You have to try it yourself to get the full experience. Barolo is expansive and this is an absolute gem that will not disappoint.
