Dutton-Goldfield Dutton Ranch Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2017 Review

Dutton-Goldfield is known for their study in mesoclimates through the 80 or so small vineyards plots they have to express a sense of place. This wine is a step away from this, sort of. They blended a selection of their favorite vineyards for this more affordable wine in their line. The result is a higher alcohol content blurring the more complex aromas, but that’s all good, because like all of there white’s it is quite balanced, just more on the heavy side, with a waxy lemon vibe (maybe lemon balm), candied tropical fruit, and vanilla bean. Yet with all that heavy going on there is a nice minerality, saving the wine from burning noses.
