Crossbarn Paul Hobbs Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2017 Review

Let’s just get this out of the way, Paul Hobbs knows what he’s doing. Ok, good. This wine is great, and worth the price. Hobbs does a whole cluster press to retain the softer side of Chard. He uses native yeast and raises this wine mostly in stainless steel with only about 8% in oak and 5 months of lees contact. Everything you just read is a recipe for success in Sonoma, and it comes through in the wine with wet rock, stone fruit and ripe pear on the nose continuing on the broad creamy palate balanced by a frothy acidity. This is even a good bottle to convert ABC’ers (Anything But Chardonnay).
