Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Review

This winery is famous for its Chardonnay, specifically the 1973 vintage, but this Cabernet Sauvignon also wows. Yes, it is young and still aging, but this wine is drinking wonderfully right now and will keep going. Sipping this wine, it feels like you are enjoying a bottle from somewhere else, maybe across the pond, with its balance and grace. At the same time it is evident that this is truly an American wine. The nose is elegant with mild fruit and earth. When the wine hits your palate you're welcomed with the softest fruit depth framed by prominent yet very subtle tannins that will get softer with age and match the fruit. It would also feel wrong not enjoying this wine with a meal as it is almost built for food.
