Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2013 Review
This wine was aged for 30 months prior to release, yet it could still do with a few more years. Castello di Bossi likes to retain a good amount of tannin in their wines to great success. This practice works well for a designation like Gran Selezione, the top tier in the Classico line up. With mature aromas of focused cherry and some vanilla from the oak, the youthful tannin and broad acidity are playing a bit of tug-o-war masking what a year will bring with the earth-driven and floral tones perceived in the background lying in wait. It might be fun to get a case of this wine and watch it evolve over a few years.
