Benziger Estate Malbec 2019 Review

The Benzinger family has been a driving force of sustainable farming and winemaking in Sonoma for three generations (they became certified biodynamic in 2000). Calling Sonoma Mountain their home, they are quoted as saying “we've farmed our ranch on Sonoma Mountain and searched Sonoma County for the most distinctive and expressive vineyards. Once found, we tend these sites using certified Biodynamic, organic and sustainable farming methods.” This Malbec is deep and big with blatant notes of cherries and licorice with a minty whisper. The palate is soft but powerful with mild acidity showing some weight. It’s not an easy wine to find and goes fast when it’s available so keep an eye out.
