Review
The Benanti family has a long tradition of winemaking going back to the nineteenth century. But it wasn't until the late '80s that the late Giuseppe Benanti planted his first vines to create his namesake brand on the slopes of Mount Etna. Today he has passed the torch to his two sons who carry on his legacy. The family owns vineyards in every beneficial position on Mount Etna, making them the only winery to have vines on every slope. That’s some serious terroir to play with! This rosato (Italian for rosé) comes from their southeastern slope vineyard. It is a wine with personality. The nose is deep with a sour cherry mixed with honey aroma. For a pink wine, the mouthfeel is almost meaty with great acidity lifting the palate just so. A food rosato for sure.
