Bedell Cellars Melon De Bourgogne 2022 Review
Bedell has been at the forefront of modern American wine since the North Fork of Long Island became an AVA in 1985. Their head winemaker Richard Olsen-Harbich was instrumental in making that happen. Kip Bedell, the winery's founder, was known as Mr. Merlot but today the winery has expanded to include many other interesting varieties like Melon De Bourgogne, the grape that's used to make Muscadet in France's Loire Valley. This expression from the North Fork has a classic saline nose with a snap of freshly sliced pear and subtle floral notes. The palate is so true to this variety with soft fruit and great minerality.
