Abacela Malbec 2019
Review
Earl and Hilda Jones came to the Umpqua Valley determined to make wine from the Spanish Tempranillo grape. It’s a story of determination in the face of outside doubt. It worked, and today Abacela is one of the most influential wineries in the Valley and beyond. Although Malbec is not a Spanish grape, it’s a good thing they planted it on their estate. This wine is meaty, with a really nice concentration of fruit and great natural acidity to compliment the balance. The fruit on the nose is flecked with some peppery aromas that really bring this wine full circle. Such a pleasant wine.
