The World's Coffee & Wine Belts

The coffee and wine we drink hail from different regions across the globe.

We plotted these areas on two "belts" that encircle the globe longitudinally. The major wine-growing regions span 30 degrees north to 50 degrees north; and 30 degrees south to 50 degrees south. While grapes can be grown in other parts of the world, these are primary areas of wine cultivation.

The coffee belt lies within the Tropic of Cancer to Tropic of Capricorn, 23.5 degrees north to 23.5 degrees south.

This interactive map has tabs in the upper righthand corner that allow you to view the coffee and wine belts individually and simultaneously. The key below highlights iconic areas such as Bordeaux (wine) and Ethiopia (coffee). Give it a try!
