The Story Behind The Rosé Martini

This cocktail is very simple, yet incredibly delicious. One day last spring, I was making my way to the store to get a nice bottle of red to enjoy with friends and to kick off the spring season. By the time I reached the store I was so hot and bothered due to the warming weather that the last thing I felt like was a red, so instead, I decided to compromise and choose a bottle of rosé.

With a nice bottle in hand I made my way home and waited for my friends to arrive. Unfortunately, I had plenty of time and no patience so I grabbed the bottle out of the fridge and poured myself a glass. The rosé turned out to be a bit too sweet for my liking, so I reached back into the fridge for my bottle of dry vermouth, which I always keep on hand for emergencies such as this and added little splash to my glass. Lo and behold, the drink that helped me through the spring months was born.

The Rosé Martini is a cocktail that can be enjoyed all year round, though seems to taste that much better in the warmer months. After plenty of “experimenting,” aka drinking, I found that the best portions were two to one, meaning for every two ounces of rosé you should add an ounce of dry vermouth.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of Rosé
  • 1 ounce of Dry Vermouth
  • 1 cup of ice

Directions

  1. Add rosé and dry vermouth to a shaker.
  2. Stir with ice, then strain mixture into serving glass.
  3. Garnish with an edible flower.
