The Story Behind The Elvis Christmas

There’s no way Elvis would have a “Blue Christmas” if he had this cocktail by his side. The creative concoction from bartender Elmer Mejicanos, partner at San Francisco cocktail spot Causwells and new bar Lilah, replicates the 1950s singer’s favorite sandwich, featuring peanut butter, banana, and bacon.

The peanut butter component is represented by a flavored whiskey base and the banana makes an appearance in a specialty infused oat milk mixture. And although there’s no actual bacon in this drink, a splash of oloroso sherry offers a slightly savory, smoky, nutty note that adds to the illusion. For the dairy-free or eggnog-averse, this cocktail provides the perfect oat-milk-based alternative that still feels rich and festive.
