The Story Behind The Apple Cider 75
A recent trip to New Orleans found me at Arnaud’s French 75. It’s where the French 75—a cocktail mixing Gin with Champagne—was first created. There have been many variations on this classic, and in honor of fall, I decided to try using sparkling apple cider to top it off. The apple cider worked beautifully, maintaining the effervescent qualities the French 75 is known for, while adding a little extra dimension in the flavor profile. The floral qualities from the Gin are somewhat subdued by this addition, but they are certainly not gone, especially with the remaining lemon juice to help the citrus notes come through. No need for the sugar syrup – the sparkling apple cider brings enough sugar to the party.
