On Wednesday, The 50, formerly known as 50 Best, announced its highly anticipated annual list of the World’s 50 Best Bars. At this year’s live ceremony in Milan, Hong Kong’s Bar Leone defended its crown as the No. 1 bar in the world, after making waves as the first bar in Asia to claim the top spot in 2025.
Italian bartender Lorenzo Antinori opened Bar Leone in June 2023, bringing the essence of Rome’s traditional neighborhood bars to Hong Kong through classic aperitivo drinks.
In the No. 2 spot is Moebius Milano, climbing up from the No. 7 position last year — an exciting feat for locals celebrating at the event in Milan. Rounding out the top five is Alquímico in Cartagena (No. 3), Bar Us in Bangkok (No. 4), and Line in Athens (No. 5).
The U.S. secured four placements on the top 50 list (down from five in 2025), all of which are based in New York City. The highest ranking U.S. bar is schmuck. — which took home VinePair’s Next Wave Award for Bar Program of the year in 2025 — in the No. 11 spot. The list also includes Sip & Guzzle (No. 16), Martiny’s (No. 46), and Bar Snack (No. 49).
