In one of the most difficult years for breweries, 10 names prevailed.
On Dec. 23, Untappd released its list of the top 10 breweries for 2020, each of which was determined by the number of “global check-ins” it received in the last year.
The list includes nine American breweries, three of which are located in California. The lowest placed of these, Lagunitas, claimed tenth place with over 400,000 check-ins. Further along, the other California breweries, Sierra Nevada and Stone Brewing, secured side by side positions in fifth and sixth place.
New York’s Other Half Brewing Co. clinched third place with nearly 800,000 check-ins. Earlier this year, the brewery’s All Riwaka Everything also snagged third place in VinePair’s Top 50 Beers.
Finally, first place went to BrewDog — the one name on the list outside of the U.S. Based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, the brewery clocked up nearly one million check-ins in 2020. With so many fans visiting the brewery, it’s no surprise that BrewDog also placed two beers on Untappd’s list of the top 10 beers in 2020.
