After Taco Bell experimented with its Cantina locations in Austin, Chicago, Las Vegas, and San Francisco, fans were elated when the Mexican fast food chain announced it was opening 300 more across the U.S. The Cantina locations offer tequila, rum, vodka, whiskey, and spiced rum that can be added to a number of flavorful freezes. They clearly have spirits covered,  so it was only a matter of time until Taco Bell announced the debut of its first-ever beer.

To commemorate the opening of Taco Bell’s first Cantina location in Southern California, Taco Bell teamed up with Four Sons Brewing out of Huntington Beach to brew the beer. The collaboration resulted in Beach Bell, a Mexican-style amber lager. Beach Bell is intended to compliment the flavors of Taco Bell’s food offerings. The beer features a smooth, robust taste, and is light, crisp, and refreshing, according to a release. For now, Beach Bell will only be available at the Newport Beach location.

Beach Bell’s release and the debut of the Newport Beach location marks the third opening of a Taco Bell Cantina this month, bringing the total amount of open Cantinas to 11. Taco Bell hopes to have 300 Cantina locations up and running within the next five years.

Nothing compliments a Doritos Locos taco or a Cheesy Gordita Crunch like a cold one. We’ll have to wait and see, but considering the rapid expansion of Taco Bell’s alcohol offerings, don’t be surprised if this isn’t the last collaboration with a local brewery. Maybe the Taco Bell Cantina in Austin can collaborate with Hops and Grain Brewing to create a light, refreshing pilsner or team up with Anchor Brewing Company in San Francisco for a West Coast IPA.
