A Veneto winery lost roughly 30,000 liters of Prosecco last week, after an apparent failure with one of its pressurized fermentation tanks.
An employee at the winery captured the agonizing moment on video, and the footage was later uploaded to Facebook by wine shop L’enoteca Zanardo Giussano.
The cause of the massive Prosecco fountain has not been confirmed, the Drinks Business says, but it could be because of a fault in the tank, or the tank simply being overfilled.
The loss equates to some 40,000 bottles of fizz. Thankfully, the region enjoyed a bountiful harvest this year, and expects a 50 million bottle increase in production compared to last year.
