For those super fans looking to taste the supple mouthfeel of Middle Earth grapes, Warner Bros. and online wine retailer Lot18 have created a wine collection inspired by Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
While supplies last, Lot18 is selling the four themed varietals as a collection or by the bottle. The four bottles, naturally, are named after Tolkein’s more beloved characters in the trilogy: Aragorn, Frodo, Galadriel, and Gandalf. Bottles start at $19.
Before stocking up for your favorite Bilbo, a few tasting notes on the wines. The 2015 Aragorn is a Bordeaux blend from the Lussac-St. Émilion appellation in France, with reputedly “delicious” black-fruit flavors. The 2016 Frodo is an old vine Zinfandel from Lodi, California. The 2016 Galadriel is a Bordeaux blanc with bright acidity. The 2016 Gandalf is a Pinot Noir from Monterey County. Its Alpine strawberry and forest floor flavors will make you think you’re drinking with Sir Ian McKellen himself.
Each vintage is limited to 6,000 bottles, so you shall not pass up this opportunity.
