In the 1980s, London bartender Dick Bradsell invented the Espresso Martini after a supermodel requested he make something that would “wake her up, then f*ck her up.” To this day, Bradsell hasn’t revealed which model inspired the mix, but whoever it was will no doubt be very happy to learn of Kahlúa’s new release.
Coming this spring, the canned “Espresso Style Martini” combines Kahlúa, coffee, and vodka, and pours with a creamy foam intended to mimic the finish of a just-made cocktail. The velvety head is delivered utilizing “smart nitrogen widgets” which force bubbles to the surface of the can, and of the glass when poured, Kahlúa says. (Drinkers of canned Guinness will be familiar with these rattling widgets.)
It’s not clear exactly when in spring the Mexican coffee liqueur brand is releasing the Espresso Style Martini, but it’s currently teasing the product with an ASMR-style — or ASMR-tini — commercial.
Kahlúa suggests pouring the 4.5-percent ABV cocktail into a glass for the full experience, and says each 200-milliliter offering is enough for two servings. But if you’re in a “wake me up, f*ck me up” kind of mood, you can just as easily enjoy on-the-go, solo.
