We’re all familiar with Alexa and Google Home, the voice-controlled devices that perform a variety of functions from playing music to ordering groceries. Now, Jim Beam is taking voice control and bourbon to a whole new technological level. Get ready for Jim, the first-ever voice-controlled bourbon decanter.
Jim functions exactly like Alexa and Google Home, with a few crucial, entertaining differences. Jim’s voice is that of Jim Beam’s master distiller, Fred Noe. You can ask Jim what the best way to drink bourbon is, and it will respond, “Any damn way you please.” If you ask Jim what the weather is like today, it will cleverly reply, “I have no idea, but I do know it’s the perfect weather to enjoy bourbon.”
But Jim’s most important and practical feature is that you can use voice command to have it pour you a drink. If you say, “Hey Jim, pour me a drink,” the automated decanter will pour a shot of Jim Beam bourbon from the spigot. (Jim is courteous, and you should be too. Make sure to thank Jim after it pours you a drink, and it will politely reply, “The pleasure is all mine.”)
While some might see this innovation as indulgent and lazy, you have to admit it’s pretty cool. Next time you get home from a long day at the office, and all you want to do is relax and have a drink, Jim has you covered.
