Feeling guilty about your beer and pretzel binge last night? Don’t worry, the Pope’s doing it too.
Pope Benedict XVI, who resigned as Pope four years ago, celebrated his 90th birthday in his homeland of Bavaria, Germany, with a pint and a pretzel. According to ABC, Benedict XVI was joined by his brother, Monsignor Georg Ratzinger, who also partook in a pint of his own to celebrate his brother’s big 9-0.
Pope Benedict XVI was born on April 16th, 1927 in Bavaria. ABC reports that Benedict celebrated his birthday on Monday, despite the actual date falling on Sunday, in observance of Easter.
A Pope that drinks beer sounds like our kind of Pope. Now just how many beers he enjoyed on his special day, we cannot confirm, though we hope it was praise-worthy.
