If you’re drinking the suds from Dog Tag Brewing, you could very well be supporting the family of a fallen man or woman who lost their life fighting for your freedom. Dog Tag Brewing Foundation has just announced that they’ll be giving nearly $115K in grants to support the legacy projects of Gold Star families who’ve lost loved ones serving our country.
Each new can of “Legacy Lager” will pay homage to a different fallen hero, with all profits going to the Dog Tag Brewing Foundation. According to Dog Tag, the Legacy Lager is “brewed with premium 2-row pale and specialty malts, Magnum and Saaz hops, and is fermented with a timeless American lager yeast.” Legacy Lager is distributed across the country by Pabst Brewing Company.
This project is in addition to the $238K they’ve already given to over fifty families. “Having a dedication can in honor of their loved one, and knowing that people around the country will raise a toast and be inspired to pay it forward, is the most perfect way to honor the sacrifice of these brave men and women,” says founder of the Dog Tag Brewing Foundation Seth Jordan.
In a press release, Jordan tells the story of Seattle resident who bought a Legacy Lager and was shocked to find it emblazoned with the dog tag of his lacrosse teammate and friend. It prompted him to reach out to the fallen soldier’s family with a picture of himself holding the beer.
Drinking with a purpose? We’ll raise a can to that.
