Every month, Chili’s Grill & Bar offers one of its legendary Margaritas at a discounted price of just $5. Taking center stage in April is the Straw-eddy ‘Rita, a refreshing (if clunky-sounding) mix of Deep Eddy lemon vodka, Lunazul Blanco tequila, strawberry purée, and fresh citrus juice.

You may have noticed Chili’s isn’t the only casual dining chain slinging discount strawberry margs this month. Yesterday, Applebee’s announced the April return of the Strawberry Dollarita. As its name suggests, the cocktail is selling for just $1

Does that mean Chili’s strawberry Margarita is five times better than Applebee’s?

The best answer to that question is it all boils down to preference, but here are some things you might want to consider if you’re trying to choose between the two.

Drinks writers love Chili’s Margaritas. However, Applebee’s dollar cocktails are so popular, they’ve helped revive the chain at a time when many of its competitors are shrinking. (We’ll call that a tie.)

Applebee’s is clearly the cheaper of the two, and the drink arrives garnished with a strawberry-flavored Twizzler straw — “the coolest and most exciting way to drink a Margarita,” according to Patrick Kirk, vice president of beverage innovation at Applebee’s. But, the Straw-eddy ‘Rita contains tequila and vodka, so there’s that.

Still torn? Well, both offers are technically running through the end of the month (at participating locations, etc.), and we, for one, believe there’s no such thing as too many discount drink deals. Why not enjoy them both?
