Here at “Wine 101,” our goal has always been to educate the public on wine to give you the tools you need to help you make your own decisions on your own wine journey. In doing so, we mostly talk about history on this podcast. But today, we want to take a moment to talk about where wine culture stands right now and where we might go next, specifically in the U.S.

As stated in the “Oxford Wine Companion,” “the U.S. was not historically a nation of wine drinkers, [but it] has tended to exaggerate the cycle of giant strides and general retreats, and even relatively recent events can fast become history.” We’re a youthful nation that is always looking for the next trend, and those trends aren’t necessarily exclusive to domestic wine. They can be ones trickling over from Chianti, Bordeaux, Burgundy, etc.

On this episode of “Wine 101,” we discuss how American wine trends have evolved since Prohibition, from the Judgement of Paris, to the organic wine movement, to what the future might have in store. Tune in for more.
