Airing between regular episodes of the VinePair Podcast, “Covid-19 Conversations” takes an inside look at how the coronavirus crisis is impacting all areas of the alcohol business.
In this installment of “Covid-19 Conversations,” VinePair’s Zach Geballe interviews Paul Zitarelli, owner and founder of Full Pull Wines in Seattle. Full Pull Wines sells boutique bottles via mailing list, presenting its carefully curated selections over email to dedicated subscribers.
Zitarelli discusses the benefits of this digital mailing-list model, including pre-purchasing wine, forecasting wine consumer interests, as well as mindfully coordinating transactions with winery and distributor representatives. As coronavirus pandemic conditions continue, Zitarelli predicts a demand surge in the value tier of wine ($10 to $15 bottles), as well as in “joyful” styles such as rosé and sparkling wine. He also anticipates a long-term loosening of interstate wine laws amidst increased online wine sales.
Moving forward, Zitarelli says the company’s aim is to deliver its products in any way that keeps consumers safe and comfortable.
