streaming-internal

Every week, a new set of movies becomes available to stream from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and HBO GO. Sure, you probably already know that, because no one really pays for cable anymore, right?

But do you know the best ones of the week coming out? Or, more importantly, what to sip on as you curl up in front of your TV or computer and isolate yourself from humanity? Wonder no longer, because VinePair has you covered.

Netflix

1. Dazed and Confused

Get the latest in beer, wine, and cocktail culture sent straight to your inbox.

All right, all right, all right. “Dazed and Confused” is finally making it on the stream team. And while marijuana plays a significant role in this cult classic, you can’t forget about the keg. Drink pairing: American macro lager, preferably something cheap like Natural Light or Keystone Light.

2. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Audrey Hepburn’s playing of Holly Golightly was a tamed-down version of the original character from Truman Capote’s book. Now, we’re not going to be that person who claims the book is better, but when it comes to finding the appropriate drink, it comes straight from the original text because the book is better. Drink pairing: a White Angel, which is “one-half vodka, one-half gin, no vermouth.”

3. Titanic

You already know the end of this one, so you’re going to need a strong, classic drink to get over the fact that there was definitely enough room on that door for Jack and Rose to share. Drink pairing: the Punch Romaine, which was served on the actual Titanic. Punch Romaine is a rum and Champagne sorbet that takes some preparation, but hey, it’s a long movie.

Hulu

1. Groundhog Day

Bill Murray’s character drinks the same drink almost every single day he repeats (well, we can assume, since every single countless repetition isn’t included). That drink is the one you should drink as well, and we hope it also reminds you of Rome. Drink pairing: sweet vermouth on the rocks with a lemon twist. Forewarning: don’t try and keep up with Murray’s pace.

2. Zoolander

Not everyone can be ridiculously good-looking. Those who are have to avoid alcohol because, you know, health. For the rest of us, there is liquor, good wine and long beer lists. Drink pairing: orange mocha frappuccino with cupcake-flavored vodka.

3. Midnight in Paris

Midnight in Paris celebrates the great American writing expats. And while it’s a throwback to the 1920s, you probably can’t afford the same type of French wine people could afford back in the day. Drink pairing: French wine, like a Beaujolais or Burgundy.

Amazon Prime

1. Pride and Prejudice

Jane Austen is famous thanks to “Pride and Prejudice” (among other works), but did you know she also brewed beer? Enjoy Keira Knightley’s performance as Elizabeth Bennet while you sip some Austen-inspired beer. Drink pairing: spruce beer.

2. Happy Gilmore

The drink of choice for “Happy Gilmore” depends on whom you relate to more: Can you crush a ball like Happy? Or are you more of the arrogant type like Shooter? Drink pairing: Happy people crush some Budweiser, Shooter people stick to vodka martinis.

3. Lethal Weapon 1-4

This release calls for a marathon, not a sprint. And when it comes to marathons, best drink what the marathon calls for. In this case that means drinking Coors. Not Coors Light, however, but Coors the Banquet Beer. Drink pairing: Coors heavy.
