America loves beer, but we are a nation of individuals. The beer of choice differs from state to state, with regional craft favorites in certain areas competing with major macro-breweries.
We analyzed Nielsen CGA survey data to determine each state’s most popular beer brand.
Bud Light is the most popular beer in 22 of the 35 states with data available.* Coming in at second place is Coors Light, holding the top spot beer in three states. Sam Adams Boston Lager, Corona Extra, and Blue Moon each headline two states’ preferences, while Stella Artois, Sam Adams Seasonal, and Miller Lite also made appearances. New Glarus Brewing Company’s Spotted Cow Ale, a beer produced in exactly one state in the union, is the most notable outlier.
