4 Flask-Worthy Cocktails to Sip All Summer

There really isn’t an inappropriate season for drinking from a flask. But with the arrival of sunshine, beach days, and picnics in the park, the need for concealed outdoor drinking is definitely higher in the summer. Now, drinking spirits straight can be a little intense for hot summer days. The solution to this conundrum is flask cocktails, of course.

Here’s the thing: Not any cocktail can be thrown into a flask. When crafting cocktails for flask consumption, there are many things you’ll want to avoid, such as carbonated mixers, fresh fruit, temperature-sensitive items, and any forms of dairy. These exclusions do eliminate a lot of our favorite drinks. But don’t worry! There are many simple cocktails out there that can be made for outdoor flask-sipping. We’ve gathered four basic cocktails for flask consumption to kick off your summer.

Gin Gimlet

(5 Parts Gin, 1 Part Lime Juice, 1 Part Simple Syrup)

This three-ingredient cocktail (gin, lime juice, and simple syrup) is just as easy to make as it is to drink. No need to buy simple syrup, either — just heat up equal parts sugar and water in the microwave for a few minutes.

Irish Coffee

(4 Parts Coffee, 2 Parts Whiskey, 1 Part Baileys)

As long as you’re fine with a room-temperature beverage, Irish Coffee is the perfect flask cocktail. However, rather than using whiskey and cream, swap in some Baileys, which is fine to consume at room temperature. Add an optional pinch of brown sugar to sweeten your caffeine-fueled sipper.

Negroni

(1 Part Gin, 1 Part Campari, 1 Part Sweet Vermouth)

Who doesn’t love a good Negroni? With equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth, making this classic cocktail couldn’t be any simpler. Bold, botanical, and downright delicious, we couldn’t think of a better park-side aperitif.

Tequila Sunrise

(6 parts Orange Juice, 3 Parts Tequila, 1 Part Grenadine)

And to really get some summer in your glass, look no further than the Tequila Sunrise. Tequila, orange juice, and grenadine will instantly transport you to a sandy, seaside resort, no matter where you are. It’s basically summer in a glass.

Now most importantly, the flasks! Check out two of our favorite flask options below.
