We Americans love our beer. Also, our spirits. But our consumption of wine might surprise you. These are just a few of the things you’ll notice on our infographic laying out what and how much Americans drank over the past 150 years. You’ll also notice a few other things, like what a hit we took during Prohibition, for example. Or how close our consumption of spirits came to that of beer at the end of the ’60s. The first graph lays out the gallons consumed per capita, while the second compares the amount of beer we drank with the amount of wine and spirits.

Check out our two graphs detailing U.S. consumption of alcohol from 1860-2013 below. All data comes from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
