This episode of The Buildout is brought to you by Farmer’s Gin. It’s brought to you by the same amazing people who brought you Michter’s, and it’s actually the gin that I use at home for my Martinis. It’s clean, crisp, unfussy — perfect for building any kind of Martini that you would like. Farmer’s Gin is made in Idaho at the first organic distillery in the United States. It’s made using Regenerative Organic Certified grain that’s grown on a family farm. It has notes of juniper, elderflower, lemongrass, coriander, rose, and angelica root. It is good for the planet, and great for Martinis. You can learn more by following Farmer’s Gin on their socials — @FarmersGin — or heading to farmersgin.com to learn more.
Bartenders Barney O’Kane and Alex Francis met while working at the landmark cocktail bar Little Red Door in Paris. Together, the two dreamed of a bar of their own — one where they would bring the skills they learned at Little Red Door but not the incessant lines it drew. The result is De Vie, which instantly became one of the most exciting Parisian newcomers when it opened its doors in September 2025.
On today’s episode of “The Buildout,” Adam sits down with Barney and Alex to talk about what it’s like to open a bar in Europe and why Paris felt like the right city. They discuss their vision for De Vie as a place that would better serve both the guests and the people behind the bar.
