Schlink Haus Silvaner Eiswein 2016 Review

On the banks of the Nahe river, some of the oldest wine villages in Germany are still making great wine today. We mostly see fresh, crisp Riesling from this region but it’s not the only grape in this almost-ancient place. Silvaner is another native variety of southern Germany that doesn't get as much attention as Riesling. As a dessert wine, this dry mineral-driven wine shows its deeper, complex side. This sweet Silvaner has a beautiful amber color with hints of butterscotch on the nose and even a saline vibe. The depth of the wine feels endless and a hint of Sherry-like oxidation adds to the complexity.
