Montes ‘Purple Angel’ 2013 Review
Bombastic fruit is the star here - black cherry and blackberry syrup - with a supporting cast of mint, sweet basil, vanilla, and bitter chocolate. It’s certainly big, rich, and satisfying, with some acidity to balance the full body, but some may feel that the price tag, while evidence of high-quality winemaking, is a little too rich for the everyday. This is proof that Carménère is worthy of standing among its other red Bordeaux grape peers.
