Penderyn Distillery Single Malt Welsh Whisky Madeira Finish
Review
Penderyn became Wales's first operational whisky distillery in over 100 years when it launched in 2004. A member of the producer's “Gold” range of single malts, this expression matures in ex-bourbon casks before a finishing period in former Madeira barrels. Both oaks have a heavy hand in the spirit's aromas and flavors, making this release an ideal pick for those who typically drink cask-finished releases. But the persisting, if subtle, character of malt ensures it's not only about the oak.
