Killowen Distillery Single Malt Irish Whiskey Signature 5 Year Rum and Raisin Inspired Review

While cask-finished whiskey lovers may be more interested in the esoteric offerings of Killowen's 10-year-old “Bonded Experimental” series, this 5-year-old “Signature” expression offers much in the way of character, as well interesting facets of production to geek out over. The flavor profile referenced in its name was achieved by finishing the single malt in rum and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, the latter of which contribute dried fruit and nut notes. Beyond this tried and true flavor combo, prepare for generous servings of coconut, vanilla, and figs.
