Castagnoli Terraze Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2015 Review

For Chianti geeks the specific meso-climates of communes of the Classico region is a big deal. Examples from the Castellina tend to be rich yet soft and tangy with tannins on the razor’s edge of being center stage but never quite getting there, resulting in beautiful balance. This wine may be a little hard to find but if you can locate it please pick it up. It is another exquisite representation of the best of Sangiovese by this winemaker. Tangy and ruby hued, with ripe cherry fruit that will integrate more with the earth tones, as seen in the 2014, the wine sees oak but it’s not in your face, displaying a nice depth and core, readying to expose those classic Sangiovese aromas. It’s deep and rich with a slight grip of tannin, allowing your palate to experience the elegant cherry plunge of the middle palate. Food or no food, this wine is excellent.
