Brewer-Clifton Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay 2021 Review

A surfer and a French professor walk into a winery. That actually happened. And this wine is a result of that meeting. Steve Clifton and Greg Brewer came together in 1995 to collaborate on the idea of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Santa Rita Hills, which was new to the area at the time. They embarked on the journey in the late nineties and today continue to make great wine. They even have side projects that are worthy of exploration. This is a maritime Chardonnay. The nose is soft and fruity with a welcome saline-like minerality that is a direct influence of the Pacific. The palate is so engaging and round with a juicy mouthfeel and a bright burst of natural acidity blossoming in the glass. What a wonderful wine.
