Amaro Nonino Quintessentia Review

Amaro Nonino provides an approachable intro to the complex world of amari. Made with a grappa base, and infused with a range of herbs and botanicals, Amaro Nonino is lither and less aggressively bitter than most bottles in the category. The nose delivers wafts of candied orange peel and a spray of pine needles. The palate then adds cloves and light, pleasant caramel to the occasion. If you buy this bottle for no other reason than to mix up a Paper Plane (a wildly underrated cocktail), you’d be doing yourself a service.

Amaro Nonino Quintessentia Pros And Cons

Pros
  • Great intro to amaro
  • Approachable profile
  • Key ingredient in a modern classic cocktail (Paper Plane)
Cons
  • Quite pricey
  • Not the most complex amaro
