The Story Behind The Rémy Martin 1738 Banana Sidecar

A classic Sidecar is a refreshingly simple cocktail, typically made with cognac, triple sec and fresh lemon juice. However, this particular recipe changes things up a bit.

For the base spirit, we used Rémy Martin 1738 which offers a lot of depth and richness to the cocktail. We used banana liqueur as the sweetener, which pairs nicely with the cognac’s various dried fruit flavors, and compliments the notes of oak and butterscotch. Then of course lemon juice and just a touch of allspice dram is used to add an element of baking spice to the mix.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Rémy Martin 1738 Cognac
  • ¾ oz banana liqueur
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ oz allspice dram
  • Orange zest garnish

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with orange zest.
