In perhaps the most important year for polls, a huge data scrape has confirmed that people vote like they drink.

VinePair first examined this last March, when it was revealed that Republicans love Michelob Ultra. This aligns with more recent data from a series of Business Insider polls held between Aug. 8 and Oct. 12.

Over 10,000 users responded to a simple poll that collected preferred party information and drink of choice. The results show that beer, wine, and liquor drinkers lean towards former Vice President Joe Biden, while those who don’t consume alcohol favor President Donald Trump. Beer drinkers had the closest margin of error with only 2 percent more leaning towards Biden over Trump.

In the past, VinePair has used data to find particular brand alliances among Democrats and Republicans. We found that Democrats were huge fans of Cognac and Mexican lagers such as Corona or Tecate. Republicans on the other hand couldn’t stop sipping bourbon and domestic beers like Miller Lite, Coors Light, and Bud Light.

We used this information to build a quiz that predicts partisanship based solely on familiarity with different alcohol brands. Whether you love Absolut Vodka or absolutely hate it, it might say something about who you’re planning to vote for.
