Waffle House Now Has an Official Beer And Its Infused with Bacon

While this new beer won’t come scattered, smothered, and covered, it may smell like a Waffle House breakfast treat.

Two years after the first Waffle House location began serving alcohol, the chain announced its newest venture: “Bacon & Kegs.” The bacon-scented red ale marks a collaboration between the chain and Oconee Brewing Company.

The beer will be available at the Oconee’s brewery in Greensboro, Ga. There, fans can pick up six-packs of 12-ounce cans or fill up a growler from the tap. Even at 6.5 percent ABV, this beer is lighter than a plate of hash browns and may make for the perfect hair of the dog.

Leslie Tillery, Oconee’s media director, told Food and Wine the bacon scent prevails over typical hoppy red ale aromas and said: “The malty sweetness of the base beer blends perfectly with the salty, savory, and smoky bacon extract to create a delicious and unique beer.”

While the beer will be available at the brewery starting Dec. 18, Oconee suspects a bigger release could follow. Soon, Bacon & Kegs could challenge Champagne, Bloody Mary’s, and bottomless Mimosas as the ultimate brunch beverage.
