Those planning to travel this June for WorldPride 2019 should get their dollar bills ready: Virgin Atlantic announced the U.K.’s first-ever “Pride Flight,” featuring drag-queen studded entertainment, an all-LGBTQ crew, and host Tituss Burgess.
The one-time flight, taking off from Heathrow on June 28, will land in time for the Stonewall 50 edition of WorldPride NYC. Burgess, a Broadway actor-cum-Netflix star best known for his role as Titus Andromedon on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” will host entertainment on the eight-hour flight, including a DJ, drag queen bingo, a Judy Garland singalong, inter-seat speed-dating, and other in-flight performances, according to Virgin Holidays.
Virgin Atlantic, with Virgin Holidays, said of the Pride Flight, “It’s an historic moment. It’s an epic party. And we want you to be there.” The flight was planned in partnership with non-profit tourism group NYC & Company and the Alliance for Downtown New York.
Mark Anderson, Virgin Atlantic executive vice president and global LGBT lead for Virgin Group, said, “We’re not the type of company to mark an occasion like this half-heartedly: we’re going to be pulling out all the stops.”
