Tree House Brewing Co., the Massachusetts cult brewery known for its New England-style IPAs like Julius, Green, and Haze, announced it will begin roasting its own coffee.

“Roasting our own coffee was inevitable,” Nate Lanier, Tree House co-founder, writes on the Tree House website in a new “Coffee” tab.

Tree House, based in Charlton, MA has made several coffee beers, but previously worked with other roasters, Lanier writes. He continues, “An overarching and plainly stated theme of the Tree House long game is to be in direct control of every variable possible in our product and presentation, thus making it exactly as we intend it to be… that is why we are now roasting our own coffee.”

This means Tree House’s coffee beers such as Single Shot, Double Shot, and Abstraction — as well as “dozens” more to come, the statement says — “will be made in house to precise specifications to produce the cleanest and brightest harmony between coffee and individual base beer,” Lanier writes.

Tree House Coffee Company will also produce cold brew, nitro cold brew, hot coffee, and bags of beans to go, according to the statement. The exact details of availability were not announced, but you can learn more about Tree House’s coffee plans here.
