With supplies of hand sanitizer running low across the country, the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) has allowed distillers to shift production from spirits to ethanol-based hand sanitizers. One of the brands stepping up to help meet demand is Tito’s Vodka.
On Sunday evening, Tito’s announced its intention to manufacture 24 tons of hand sanitizer, while also reminding Americans that its vodka should only be used for drinking.
“Currently, we are testing our formula, procuring necessary components of supplies and packaging, and preparing for production as we wait for the additional required ingredients to be delivered to the distillery,” Tito’s post read.
The vodka producer estimates it can get the first batch produced “over the next several weeks,” with more to follow. Tito’s also says its new hand sanitizer will be “given away for free to our community and those most in need.” Further details and updates will come as production commences.
