If you are a fan of Templeton Rye you might be waiting a little longer for new bottles to hit the shelf.
Last Wednesday, a truck carrying 12,000 bottles of the Iowa-produced rye whiskey overturned on a Missouri highway around 5 a.m. near the border of Arkansas. “It makes you wonder what else can go wrong in 2020,” Keith Kerkhoff, Templeton Rye co-founder, told local news. “Thank God, nobody got hurt.”

No one was injured in the crash but photos show boxes strewn across the highway landing in a nearby ditch. The 80-proof spirit was en route to a warehouse in Fort Smith, Ark. from the distiller’s distribution center in Templeton, Iowa, according to Templeton Rye’s processing manager Kevin Boersma.
“It’s definitely the strangest thing I’ve ever had happen with a truckload or shipment,” Boersma told USA Today.
The load of four-year-old whiskey is valued at over $325,000 and, as of now, is considered to be a total loss. Hopefully, it won’t be another four years before you can get that new bottle.
