It’s now possible to get the perfect pedicure while sipping wine picked by a professional sommelier.
Allegra Angelo, an Advanced Sommelier who will be sitting for the Master Sommelier test in September, recently secured a permanent spot in San Francisco for her wine/nail salon pop up business Bottlecoat. Every Friday starting on May 5, Angelo will host a tasting of three wines for $15 at ZaZa Nail Spa, Eater reports.
Angelo describes herself on her website as a sommelier who is “obsessed with manicures, pedicures, and no headache wine.” Bottlecoat is her way to combine her passions. The business started as a pop up that brought together winemakers, nail experts, and, of course, good wine and light snacks. Bottlecoat quickly found its audience. ZaZa reached out to Angelo for help with its own wine offerings, and Angelo built a list of French and Italian wines for $9-14 a glass. And Angelo knows French and Italian wines through and through. Her day job is the California importer for APS Wine & Spirits, a company that focuses on family owned French and Italian estates. If she brings any of the wines she works with at APS Wine & Spirits into Bottlecoat, it’s worth it enough just to visit for the drinks.
“These wines are served in some of the best restaurants in the country,” Angelo told Eater. “I love the affordable luxury part of wine at restaurants and it’s nice that someone can spend a little money on a mani-pedi, and have a nice getaway and stress free experience.”
