This Austin Hotel Is Offering Pappy Van Winkle Pairings

What better way to ring in the New Year than forgetting the resolution to drink less, and instead, drinking more of the great stuff?

The Westin Austin Downtown is going to help you do this and more with its “Rip Van Winkle Package,” Food and Wine reports.

Currently offered between Jan. 1 and Oct. 1, 2020, the Austin hotel will present guests with three coveted Pappy Van Winkle bottlings tasted alongside a special meal at its Southern comfort restaurant, Stella San Jac. The flight will include a 10-year, 12-year, and a 20-year bourbon from the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery.

“We’re fortunate to get a full allotment of Pappy at The Westin Austin Downtown, but this year we decided to spread the love, and put a tasting together that’s commensurate with the rare juice,” Nicole Sopko, the director of sales and marketing at The Westin Austin Downtown told Food and Wine via email.

The package costs $799 per night (with a minimum two night stay) and reservations must be made a week in advance. It’s pricey, for sure, but it might just be the best chance you get of tasting Pappy these days. So start making those reservations now.
