Oskar Blues, maker of the famous Dale’s Pale Ale and member of the Canarchy Craft Brewery Collective, announced a new brand coming 2019: hard seltzer.
The Colorado-based brewing company, which has five brewery locations throughout Colorado, Texas, and North Carolina, announced the nationwide launch of Wild Basin boozy sparkling water set to debut in early 2019, Brewbound reports.
Oskar Blues CMO Patrick Daugherty said in a press release, “Our goal is to introduce something that can help grow the category and give drinkers a true craft option in hard seltzer.”
Wild Basin will come in four flavors: Classic Lime; Cucumber Peach; Lemon Agave Hibiscus; and Melon Basil. Health-conscious drinkers will be happy to know it clocks in at just 100 calories, one carbohydrate, zero sugar, and 5 percent ABV. It’s also gluten-free.
Spiked sparkling water is no hard sell these days — according to market research firm IRI worldwide, off-premise dollar sales of flavored malt beverages (FMBs) increased nearly 10 percent this year through November 4. Brands such as White Claw, owned by Mark Anthony Brands, and Truly Spiked & Sparkling, owned by Boston Beer, have seen tremendous success in the category.
Oskar Blues’ take on the trend will be produced at its Longmont facility.
