On Tuesday, the Brewers Association announced the annual results for the top brewing companies in the country. The 2018 report includes two lists: The Top 50 Craft Brewing Companies, and the Top 50 Overall Brewing Companies.
New to the craft brewers’ list this year is Modern Times Beer, a San Diego-based brewery with locations in Point Loma, North Park, Los Angeles, Encinitas, Calif, and Portland, Ore. The cult favorite best-known for its hazy IPAs joins the list at number 45.
Brooklyn Brewery was bumped from 11 to 12 by Artisanal Brewing Ventures, the brewery group that includes Victory Brewing of Downingtown, Pa., Southern Tier Brewing of Lakewood, N.Y., and Sixpoint Brewing of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Rhinegeist Brewery of Cincinnati, Ohio moved up from 33 to 28. Allagash Brewing of Portland, Me. hopped from 36 to 30, and Three Floyds Brewing of Munster, Ind. ascended from 45 to 39.
Sad news for Green Flash Brewing: The San Diego-based brewery, at 43 last year, no longer holds a position on the list. The top 50 craft brewers finishes with Left Hand Brewing of Longmont, Colo., which was at number 44 last year.
Overall, the top five brewing companies in the U.S. are Anheuser-Busch, MillerCoors, Constellation, Heineken, and Pabst Brewing.
